This month, Alienware introduced its refreshed lineup of mainstream 2025 gaming laptops under the name "Alienware Aurora." The first 16-inch models are now available for purchase through Dell. The Alienware Aurora 16 (not to be mistaken for the desktop version) is the budget-friendly variant, equipped with an Intel Core Ultra Series 2 i9-270H CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with an 85W TGP, priced at $1,949.99. The higher-end Alienware Aurora 16X features an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX CPU and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with an 115W TGP, retailing for $2,299.99. Shipments are expected to begin in mid-June. Both models allow for the optional addition of RTX 5060 GPUs, which are currently on pre-order status without a confirmed shipping date, as the RTX 5060 has yet to officially launch.

The new Alienware Aurora laptops differ from the flashy designs of other Alienware models, such as the recently launched Area-51. Instead, these feature a sleek, understated aesthetic with a slim profile and lack of excessive RGB lighting. The Aurora 16, in particular, only offers white keyboard backlighting akin to Apple MacBooks. However, under the hood, both the Aurora 16 and 16X remain packed with gaming-grade components and a robust Cryo Chamber dual-fan and copper heatpipe cooling system. The Aurora 16 is slightly thinner and lighter due to its more power-efficient Intel Core Ultra 9 CPU and RTX 5070 GPU with an 85W TGP. Meanwhile, the Aurora 16X is slightly bulkier and heavier to accommodate more potent cooling solutions. In exchange, you get a more robust Intel Core Ultra 9 HX-series processor and an RTX 5070 GPU with a full 115W TGP.
Priced considerably lower than the Alienware Area-51 laptop, which starts at over $3,000, these models are far easier to transport, weighing up to 1.6 pounds less and measuring up to 30% thinner than their larger counterparts. Prices are unlikely to drop significantly anytime soon, especially given the potential upward trend in NVIDIA GPU prices (as noted by Tom's Hardware).
