Alienware Aurora R16 RTX 4090 Gaming PC Now Under $3,000

By ZoeyMay 25,2025

High-end prebuilt PCs often come with hefty price tags, but savvy shoppers can save hundreds of dollars by snagging a great deal. Currently, Dell is offering an incredible discount on the Alienware Aurora R16 equipped with a GeForce RTX 4090, slashing the price by $1,000 to just $2,899.99. This is the first time in months that an RTX 4090 gaming PC has been available for under $3,000. With standalone RTX 4090 graphics cards starting to increase in price, costing at least $2,000 from reputable vendors, building your own PC might not be as cost-effective as you'd think. Additionally, opting for a prebuilt PC like this one comes with the added benefit of an all-inclusive warranty.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC boasts an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 2TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is currently the top Intel gaming CPU and excels in productivity tasks. Although this chip can run hot, it's efficiently cooled by a 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a robust 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.

The RTX 4090 is the most powerful GPU on the market, outpacing any other video card from NVIDIA or AMD. In his review, Chris Coke states, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can run any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high frame rates even in the latest, most demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. The 4090 is also the preferred consumer card for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.

A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs

NVIDIA's next generation of GPUs, the RTX 5000 series, is set to launch at the end of January. The RTX 5090 will be more powerful, but it comes with a hefty price tag of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition at launch, and availability might be limited. The RTX 5080 will start at $999, though it may also face availability issues. While we will benchmark these cards soon, they will come with less VRAM than the 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and may not immediately surpass the 4090 in performance.

A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis

The R16 is Alienware's 2024 desktop PC design, featuring a 40% smaller volume compared to previous models. It employs a proven airflow system, drawing air through side intake vents over the GPU and a 120mm front fan, exhausting it via a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to these top fans. Some configurations might not include the liquid cooling system, but we typically recommend those that do because Alienware's liquid cooling solution significantly outperforms their air cooling and is well worth the extra cost. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in appearance and design.
