Ubisoft has officially announced the global release times for the much-anticipated Assassin’s Creed Shadows, marking a significant departure from the series' tradition and Ubisoft's typical release strategies. Unlike its predecessors, Assassin’s Creed Shadows will not offer early access for an additional fee, ensuring a unified launch across all platforms. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S at 12am local time on March 20. However, PC players should note that release times vary depending on the platform—Steam or Ubisoft's own Ubi Connect.
Pre-load is already available for eager fans on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC, allowing them to prepare for the game's release in advance.
The stakes are high for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, especially following a series of delays and the underwhelming sales of last year's Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft has faced several challenges recently, including high-profile flops, layoffs, studio closures, and game cancellations, all of which add to the pressure on this latest installment to perform well.
IGN’s review of Assassin’s Creed Shadows awarded it an impressive 8/10, praising the game for refining its established systems and delivering one of the best open-world experiences the series has seen in the last decade.
