Conquering the Wooden Barriers
Early in the game, you'll encounter living, breathing wooden barriers. Standard attacks are ineffective. To destroy them, you'll need to reach a significant height and perform a special attack.

The game starts by letting you choose from three weapons: the balanced Ruego al Alba, the powerful but slow Veredicto, and the fast but less damaging Sarmiento & Centella. Each weapon has a specific function beyond combat. The Ruego al Alba is key to breaking the wooden barriers. This isn't an early-game ability; you'll need to progress to obtain the necessary skill. Once you have it, locate the barrier, reach a high point, and execute a plunge attack. An insufficient height will partially break the barrier, indicating the need for a greater drop. The Passage of Ash ability (double jump) is invaluable here.
On Xbox, the plunge attack is performed by pushing down on the left joystick and pressing "X". PlayStation players use the Square button. This technique is also useful in combat against groups of enemies or less resilient foes. Breaking these barriers unlocks valuable items, new areas, and even optional bosses.

Choosing Your Weapon
The optimal weapon is subjective. Veredicto is ideal for players prioritizing high damage over attack speed. Sarmiento & Centella suits those who prefer speed and agility, even at the cost of lower damage. Ruego al Alba offers a balanced compromise. Ultimately, all three are essential for both combat and exploration to fully experience Blasphemous 2.
