Get ready for the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta! Activision, during the inaugural episode of the official Call of Duty podcast, revealed the dates for the upcoming two-part multiplayer beta test.
Beta Access: A Two-Stage Launch
The early access beta kicks off August 30th and concludes September 4th, exclusively for those who pre-ordered Black Ops 6 or currently subscribe to select Game Pass tiers. Following this, open beta access will be available to all players from September 6th to 9th. Mark your calendars!
The full game launches October 25th, 2024, across PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4, and will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
New Game Mechanics and Features
The podcast also unveiled exciting gameplay details. Treyarch's Associate Director of Design, Matt Scronce, confirmed Black Ops 6 will boast 16 multiplayer maps at launch: 12 standard 6v6 maps and 4 Strike maps playable in both 6v6 and 2v2 modes. The beloved Zombies mode returns with two brand-new maps. A fresh mechanic, "Omnimovement," is also being introduced.
Nostalgia reigns supreme with the return of the traditional scorestreak system, a welcome change from Black Ops Cold War. Scores will reset upon player elimination. Another noteworthy addition is a dedicated melee weapon slot, eliminating the need to sacrifice a secondary weapon for a knife – a feature the Treyarch team is particularly enthusiastic about.
