The Overlord storyline centers around the MMORPG Yggdrasil. When the game shuts down, guild leader Momonga finds himself trapped, unable to log out, and witnessing his NPCs gain sentience. Reborn as the formidable sorcerer Ainz Ooal Gown, he commands the very forces of death.
