SpongeBob Joins Crossy Road Castle In Crossover Event

It's always surprising to remember that some of the releases you saw around when you were younger have grown into their own mini-franchises. That's certainly true for Crossy Road and its competitive multiplayer offshoot, Crossy Road Castle. But even I can appreciate a solid crossover collaboration, and Crossy Road Castle is doing just that with none other than SpongeBob SquarePants!

Yes, the iconic characters created by Stephen Hillenburg are coming to Crossy Road Castle. This includes a whole series of Bikini Bottom-themed levels, along with SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Sandy as playable heroes.

And by "series," I mean a substantial 40 levels where you can compete with friends. You'll be tasked with collecting Krabby Patties and avoiding jellyfish stings as part of the Krabby Patty Kollectathon event, running until August 17th.

SpongeBob is undoubtedly one of the most iconic cartoon characters of all time. While I might sound like a grumpy old-timer saying, "It was better in my day," I'm still glad to see kids today enjoying the nautical adventures of this cheerful sponge.

Crossy Road Castle also offers a surprising amount of appeal with its more intricate and challenging take on the classic formula. While the original Crossy Road clearly riffed on games like Flappy Bird, Crossy Road Castle delivers a more engaging and competitive experience.
