Dune: Awakening, the eagerly anticipated open-world survival MMO inspired by Frank Herbert's iconic sci-fi novels and Denis Villeneuve's films, has been rescheduled for release on June 10, 2025. Funcom, the game's developer, announced this delay, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience.
For those eager to dive into the sands of Arrakis ahead of the general release, Funcom has introduced an early access opportunity. Players who purchase the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition can start their journey on June 5, 2025, five days before the official launch.

The decision to delay the game stems from valuable feedback received during the ongoing Persistent Closed Beta. Funcom stated that this additional time will allow them to refine the game further and incorporate requested changes. Moreover, the delay paves the way for a large-scale beta weekend next month, offering even more players the chance to experience Dune: Awakening and provide their insights.
While the delay might disappoint some fans eager to explore the Dune universe, Funcom is keeping the excitement alive with a combat livestream scheduled for today at 12pm ET/9am PT. This event will delve into the game's PvP and PvE mechanics, archetypes, and skills, offering a deeper look at what players can expect.
Here at IGN, our hands-on preview of Dune: Awakening highlighted its potential, stating, "It's easy to be skeptical about an MMO survival game set in the Dune universe, but after a few bouts of dehydration and sunstroke, the day I spent in Arrakis convinced me that Dune: Awakening is one to watch."
