Elden Ring: Nightreign will only be tested on consoles

FromSoftware's upcoming title will initially only be accessible to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S players via a closed network test. Registration opens January 10th, with testing slated for February. This excludes a considerable portion of the fanbase from early access.

Bandai Namco has yet to explain the exclusion of PC players from this initial test phase. However, selected console players will enjoy exclusive early gameplay before the official launch.

Elden Ring: Nightreign continues the narrative of its predecessor while introducing a new, ominous setting and gameplay experiences. While console gamers get a head start, PC users will need to await further announcements regarding potential future testing opportunities.

A notable change in Elden Ring: Nightreign is the removal of the in-game messaging system. Director Junya Ishizaki clarified this decision, stating that the approximately forty-minute session length doesn't allow sufficient time for message interaction. He stated, "We disabled the messaging feature because there isn't enough time for sending or reading messages during sessions, which last approximately forty minutes."
