Why send a child to boarding school? Between the peer pressure, loneliness, and the inherent snobbery, it's a wonder. But imagine if you also had to deal with classmates being pushed out of windows! That's the scenario in Expelled!, the latest thrilling release from inkle, the creators behind the acclaimed Overboard.
In Expelled!, you step into the shoes of Verity Amersham, a seemingly innocent student at Miss Mulligatawney's School for Promising Girls in the year 1922. When a prefect is suspiciously pushed out a window, Verity finds herself accused of attempted murder. Your mission? To clear your name within the span of a single school day, as characters around you move and act independently, heightening the pressure.
You have a choice in how you approach your exoneration. Will you play it straight and hunt down the real culprit, frame an innocent to save yourself, or resort to more direct methods like wielding your hockey stick? The clock is ticking, and the decision is yours!
An inkleing
It's not hard to recommend Expelled!, especially considering the positive feedback from Catherine Dellosa's review. Inkle, the studio behind my personal favorite mobile game, 80 Days, and the engaging murder-themed visual novel Overboard, has once again delivered a gem. While Expelled! features a less sinister protagonist than Overboard, you're free to navigate the game with varying degrees of morality. You could play it straight, shift the blame, or unleash your inner vigilante. And, there's a twist—Verity might not be as innocent as she appears at first glance.
To uncover the full story, you'll have to dive into Expelled! yourself.
