Fake Baldur’s Gate 3 Mobile Port Appears on App Store

A fraudulent Baldur's Gate 3 mobile port has surfaced on the iOS App Store, prompting a warning to players. This fake app, deceptively similar to the genuine game, is free initially but demands a substantial $29.99 monthly subscription fee. Furthermore, its terms of service raise concerns about potential user data collection, including IP addresses.

Crucially, Larian Studios, the developers of Baldur's Gate 3, have not released an official mobile version. The scam app, titled "Baldurs Gate 3 - Mobile Turuk" and attributed to developer "Dmytro Turuk," employs modified screenshots from the PC version with a superimposed fake mobile HUD. The absence of any mention of Dungeons & Dragons or Larian Studios further exposes its fraudulent nature.

While the free initial download might lure unsuspecting players, the steep monthly cost and data collection concerns should serve as immediate red flags. This isn't the first instance of a Baldur's Gate 3 rip-off on app stores, highlighting the ongoing need for vigilance. Currently, no similar fraudulent apps have been reported on the Android store.

Players who have downloaded the counterfeit app are urged to delete it immediately. While a mobile port of Baldur's Gate 3 remains unconfirmed, Larian Studios offers access to earlier Baldur's Gate titles, and the game is also available via Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Remember, if an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. Always verify developer information before downloading any app.
