GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

While there's no official word yet on a PC version of Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), hints from Take-Two Interactive's CEO Strauss Zelnick suggest that a PC release might be on the horizon. Dive into the details to get the latest on GTA 6's development and future plans.

GTA 6 on PC: Unconfirmed, But Take-Two Shows Interest

Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6) has not been announced for PC yet, but there's a buzz about a potential future release. In a recent interview with IGN on February 10, 2025, Strauss Zelnick shared insights into Take-Two's platform strategy. He mentioned that while Civilization 7 will launch on both console and PC, other titles like those from Rockstar Games typically follow a staggered release pattern.

Zelnick noted, "Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms." This statement aligns with past releases like GTA 5, which hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2013, followed by PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in November 2014, and finally PC in April 2015. Similarly, Red Dead Redemption 2 launched on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, before arriving on PC in November 2019.

Although GTA 6's PC release remains unconfirmed, Zelnick's comments hint at Take-Two's interest in eventually bringing the game to PC. Fans have hoped for a simultaneous launch across all platforms, but history suggests a later PC release.

Take-Two Confident About GTA 6 Sales Across All Platforms

Zelnick also emphasized the growing significance of PC as a platform for their games. He revealed that a PC version of a multiplatform title can account for up to 40% of its total sales. He stated, "We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue."

Despite reports of declining console sales for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, Zelnick remains optimistic about GTA 6's performance on these platforms. He believes the game will not only sell well but also boost console sales for Sony and Xbox. "When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles," he explained.

He further added, "And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC."

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, though an exact date hasn't been announced. Stay updated with the latest on the game by visiting our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.

In the Take-Two Interactive Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, Zelnick discussed the company's interest in the upcoming Switch 2 console. He highlighted their long-standing relationship with Nintendo and said, "We've had obviously a long-standing relationship with Nintendo, and we've supported the platform when it made sense for the individual release."

Zelnick noted a shift in Nintendo's audience, stating, "the Switch device can support any audience." With Civilization 7 already confirmed for the Switch, he added, "As you may have noted, Civilization 7 is now on Switch. So while we have nothing specific to report, we actually would fully expect to support Switch."
