GTA 6: S-Tier Potential? Ranking All Rockstar Games

By ChristianMay 20,2025

The excitement for the new GTA 6 trailer is palpable, and if you missed it, we've meticulously broken down all the secrets and details it holds. Unfortunately, we'll need to wait until May 26, 2026, to dive into Lucia and Jason’s adventures. While we bide our time, let's reminisce about the stellar lineup of Rockstar games we've loved over the years and rank them for some fun.

Since its inception in 1998, Rockstar has crafted over 30 games, giving us iconic series like Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and Manhunt. But which ones stand out as the best? Note that our list excludes titles like LA Noire and Max Payne 2, focusing solely on games developed by Rockstar, not just published by them. I’ve ranked them using an IGN Tier List, based purely on my personal enjoyment over the years. Check out my tier list here:

Rockstar Games Tier List

Red Dead Redemption 2 effortlessly claims my top spot in the S-tier; it's simply my all-time favorite game. It's joined by its predecessor and GTA 5, both trailblazers in the cinematic open-world genre. I also have a soft spot for Max Payne 3 and its thrilling bullet-time mechanics, not to mention GTA San Andreas—a game I played at an age far too young. At the other end of the spectrum in the D-tier, you'll find games like Austin Powers: Oh, Behave! and Welcome to My Underground Lair!, titles that few, if any, would willingly revisit.

Disagree with my rankings? Think Vice City trumps GTA 4? Feel free to create your own tier list and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the IGN community's preferences.
