Helldivers 2 Flamethrower Upgrade Ignites New Gameplay

Helldivers 2's recent patch significantly enhanced the Flamethrower stratagem by resolving a bug impacting the Peak Physique armor perk. Released in early February 2024 by Sony and developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2 quickly amassed a large player base, becoming a 2024 PlayStation standout.

The FLAM-40 Flamethrower, a powerful but unwieldy weapon, received a 50% damage buff in March, sparking experimentation with new builds. Its inherent sluggishness, however, frustrated players prioritizing mobility. Update 01.000.403 addressed this, improving handling thanks to the Peak Physique armor perk fix. Reddit user CalypsoThePython showcased the improved maneuverability, highlighting the pre-patch "truck-like" turning.

Introduced in mid-June with the Viper Commandos Warbond, the Peak Physique perk was designed to improve weapon handling and boost melee damage. A malfunction, however, hampered its effectiveness, particularly impacting the Flamethrower's sluggishness. The Helldivers 2 Media Twitter account shared CalypsoThePython's demonstration, surprising some players unaware of the perk's bug-induced impact.

The swift resolution demonstrates the developers' responsiveness. While players celebrate the improved Flamethrower handling, some issues remain. One reported bug involves the Flamethrower's upward trajectory when fired while using the Jump Pack. Future patches are anticipated to address such lingering concerns.
