Today's PlayStation State of Play showcased an in-depth preview of 007 First Light, the new James Bond game from IO Interactive, set for release in 2026.
A cinematic trailer introduced a youthful James Bond embarking on his early days as a secret agent.
The trailer also highlighted The Walking Dead star Lennie James, who will take on a key role in the game.
The trailer for 007 First Light reveals that this James Bond witnessed his parents' tragic death at age 11 during a mountain accident, where they cut their ropes to save him. He then navigated his way off the mountain alone.
IO Interactive first revealed their James Bond project in 2020 as Project 007, with minimal details shared since. From the start, IO emphasized crafting an original James Bond origin story, distinct from any existing film narratives.
Recently, IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak expressed ambitions for 007 First Light to launch a trilogy of games, though this has put the studio's Hitman series on hold. In April, it was confirmed the game will also launch on Nintendo Switch 2, alongside PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
