Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Resurgence: Over 200,000 Copies Sold!

Released late last year, the Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP remaster has exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong fan demand for this classic action game. Despite initial technical hiccups and some controversy, the game's sales figures clearly indicate its popularity.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (known for the No More Heroes series), Lollipop Chainsaw is a vibrant hack-and-slash title starring a chainsaw-wielding cheerleader battling zombies. While the original developer didn't handle the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved gameplay features.

Months after its September 2024 launch across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via Twitter.

Celebrating Success: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Sales Triumph

Players take on the role of Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Using her trusty chainsaw, Juliet fights hordes of zombies and formidable bosses in dynamic, Bayonetta-esque combat.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, selling over one million copies. The game's unique appeal stemmed partly from the collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy), who contributed to the game's compelling narrative.

While future DLC or a sequel remains unannounced, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's sales success bodes well for remasters of other cult-classic games. This positive trend is further supported by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
