With the Nintendo Switch 2 now officially on the way, it’s the perfect moment to revisit some of the legendary publisher's all-time greatest games.
For decades, Nintendo has created some of the most iconic and best-selling gaming franchises in history. Here, I’ve narrowed down 18 of the most popular ones for a closer look. We could easily list over a hundred, but let’s keep things focused. From Super Mario to Zelda, everyone has their favorites—and perhaps a few series (sorry, Kirby) that never quite clicked. I’ve ranked them using one of our IGN Tier Lists, based entirely on my personal enjoyment of each franchise over the years. Check out my full tier list:

It’s probably no surprise to see both Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda in my S-tier. These are two of the most influential and consistently enjoyable video game series ever made—truly in a league of their own. On the other hand, I expect some raised eyebrows over placing Super Smash Bros. in C-tier. Before you come for me in the comments, let me explain. Smash Bros. just isn't my thing. I’ve never been big on fighting games, and while many grew up playing it with friends, I was usually playing other multiplayer or party titles like TimeSplitters, Guitar Hero, or Call of Duty. I simply don’t have that nostalgic connection to Smash that many do, so I can only ask for your understanding.
Don’t agree with my picks? Think Pikmin deserves a higher spot than Pokémon? Feel free to create your own ranking using the tier list below and see how your S, A, B, C, and D tiers stack up against the rest of the IGN community.
