By NatalieFeb 22,2025

NetEase Games promises a steady stream of new heroes for its Marvel Rivals game, with a new character launching every six weeks. This was confirmed by creative director Guangyun Chen in an interview with Metro. The plan involves releasing a new hero for each half of a three-month season, ensuring a consistent influx of fresh content.

"Each season will feature new seasonal stories, maps, and heroes, with each season divided into two halves," Chen explained. "A new hero will be introduced in each half-season. Our goal is to continuously enhance the player experience and keep the community engaged."

The rapid release schedule naturally raises the question of who's next. Season 1: Eternal Night Falls began with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. While these established Marvel characters provide a strong foundation, maintaining this level of excitement and character quality over numerous seasons will be a significant undertaking.

Marvel Rivals launched with a diverse roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, countless other Marvel characters remain untapped. Rumors suggest Blade for Season 2, with fans eagerly anticipating the addition of Daredevil, Deadpool, and more X-Men. NetEase's approach to expanding the roster remains unclear, but the game's initial success indicates a commitment to ongoing development.

Season 1 also included substantial balance adjustments and gameplay refinements, with further improvements promised in future updates. For more on Marvel Rivals, see reports on players using the Invisible Woman against bots, the Hero Hot List, and the use of mods despite potential bans.
