Marvel Rivals to Boost Strategist Role After Player Protest

NetEase Games, developer of Marvel Rivals, has announced plans to address player concerns regarding Strategist class balance, following widespread community backlash.

While Marvel Rivals Season 2 introduced exciting new content like characters, maps, and game modes, recent balance changes have disproportionately affected Support-class Strategists. The overpowered Vanguard and Duelist roles have created frustration among Strategist players, impacting both gameplay and team dynamics.

Since Season 2 launched, Support-class imbalance has dominated community discussions. Many Strategist players report increased toxicity during matches, with teammates frequently blaming them in chats. This tension culminated last week when hundreds of players organized a boycott of Support roles until NetEase addressed their concerns.

"We're not demanding special treatment - just fair recognition," explained one Reddit user. "When we're performing well but still receiving toxicity, it discourages anyone from playing Support roles."

Support Class Improvements Coming

Responding to player feedback, NetEase outlined a dual solution in their recent Dev Talk: buffing Support heroes while improving Competitive mode rewards.

The upcoming patch will increase Strategist effectiveness through hero adjustments. Changes may include buffs for Invisible Woman and Jeff the Land Shark, while potentially nerfing Captain America and Groot's survivability. Spider-Man's Amazing Combo may also see damage reductions.

"These mid-season adjustments will be measured," NetEase stated. "We're prioritizing subtle improvements before implementing broader balance changes with Ultron's arrival in Season 2.5."

The Competitive mode will also receive adjustments to performance rating calculations, addressing current biases favoring Duelists. NetEase acknowledged the challenges in perfecting balance, promising continued responsiveness to player feedback.

Marvel Rivals Season 2 recently added Emma Frost as a Vanguard hero, with Ultron slated for Season 2.5. As players await these balance changes, speculation continues about potential swimsuit-themed cosmetics mentioned in recent Marvel teases.
