Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued: Quest 3 Takes the Reins

Meta has officially discontinued its high-end VR headset, the Meta Quest Pro. The company's website now reflects its unavailability, confirming earlier announcements predicting the end of production by early 2025.

The Quest Pro's high price tag of $1499.99, significantly more than the standard Quest line (ranging from $299.99 to $499.99), hindered its widespread adoption among both consumers and businesses. Consequently, remaining stock has now completely sold out.

Meta directs potential buyers to its newer offering, the Meta Quest 3, described as the "ultimate mixed reality experience." While a few stray Quest Pro units might still exist in retail stores, finding one is increasingly unlikely.

Meta Quest 3: A Worthy Successor

The Meta Quest 3 provides a compelling alternative, offering many of the Quest Pro's features at a substantially lower price point of $499. Like its predecessor, it emphasizes mixed reality capabilities, allowing users to blend virtual and real-world environments.

In several key areas, the Quest 3 actually surpasses the Quest Pro. It boasts a lighter design, higher resolution, and a faster refresh rate, promising a more immersive and comfortable experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers remain compatible with the Quest 3. For budget-conscious users, the Meta Quest 2S, starting at $299.99, offers a more affordable option with slightly reduced specifications.
