MultiVersus Concludes Roster Amid Player Threats

The saga of MultiVersus could serve as a case study in the gaming industry, akin to the story of Concord's demise. Yet, the game is preparing for its final act, with the developers unveiling the last two fighters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This announcement arrives amid mounting player frustration, with some fans expressing their disappointment through threats aimed at the development team. MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh addressed the situation in a detailed statement, pleading with the community to refrain from threatening the team members.

Huynh offered an apology to supporters whose most-wanted characters never made it into MultiVersus, while expressing a hope that they would still find enjoyment in the content from the game's concluding Season 5. He further explained that adding characters to such a game involves numerous complex factors, and his personal authority over these choices was much narrower than many players believed.

Following the news of MultiVersus's shutdown, some players expressed anger over being unable to use their accrued in-game tokens on new characters—a key benefit promised to those who bought the game's $100 Founder's Edition. This unresolved issue may have been a contributing factor to the hostile reactions.
