In NieR: Automata, crafting materials play a crucial role in enhancing your weapons and pod, significantly boosting your character's strength early on. Among these, Machine Arms stand out as a rare and essential component. While they might seem like a common item, they are challenging to acquire, often necessitating dedicated farming efforts, especially in the early stages of the game.
Where To Farm Machine Arms In NieR: Automata
Machine Arms can drop from any small machine you defeat, though the drop rate increases with the enemy's level, making them scarce at the game's outset. If you're determined to gather these early, you'll need to ramp up your machine-killing efficiency.
Post-Chapter 4, after your initial encounter with Adam, you gain access to a pit where enemies, including small machines, spawn continuously. To reach this spot, use fast travel to reach the Desert: Housing Complex access point and venture deeper into the ruins. Here, enemies respawn rapidly, though their low level means a lower drop rate for Machine Arms. Still, this location offers your best chance for early farming, and it's also effective for collecting Titanium Alloy. To slightly improve your odds, consider equipping a Drop Rate Plug-In Chip.
