- The official Wheel of Time Card Game has been rebranded as Heroes and Forsaken
- It continues to explore the rich, epic fantasy world of the beloved Wheel of Time series
- Launch is now scheduled for Q1 2026
Renowned for its expansive narrative, The Wheel of Time boasts a passionate community. It’s no wonder developer Witsteen decided to bring that literary magic into a digital Collectible Card Game (CCG), which has just undergone a title change.
Previously titled Battle for Randland, the upcoming game is now known as Heroes and Forsaken: The Wheel of Time Digital Card Game. Though lengthy, the new name is more descriptive and better positioned to capture fan interest.
Initially, I viewed this project with some skepticism, feeling it lacked ambition for such a legendary franchise. However, it’s encouraging to see Witsteen incorporating community feedback into their development process.

Wheels within wheels
While some AI-generated art remains visible, recent updates suggest improvements are underway. Several new key art pieces display significantly higher quality and refinement. The updated title also resonates better with those who know the series by reputation but not its deeper lore.
The launch window for Heroes and Forsaken has shifted to Q1 2026, allowing more time for polish and development. This extended timeline offers hope for a refined final product.
Competition in this space is fierce, particularly on mobile platforms where digital CCGs thrive. For similar titles, check out our guide to the best card battler games available on iOS.
