Osmos Returns to Google Play

By NoraJan 10,2025

Osmos, the acclaimed cell-absorbing puzzle game, is back on Android! Previously removed due to playability issues stemming from outdated porting technology, it's now been resurrected by developer Hemisphere Games with a completely revamped port.

Remember Osmos? This unique, award-winning puzzle challenges you to absorb other microorganisms while avoiding the same fate. Simple yet captivating, it was unfortunately unavailable on Android for a considerable time.

Now, years after its 2010 debut, Osmos returns to Google Play with a brand-new, modern Android port. Experience this micro-organic battle royale like never before!

Hemisphere Games explains in a blog post that initial Android development, done with Apportable, stalled after that studio closed. The game was subsequently removed from the Play Store due to incompatibility with current Android systems (only running on obsolete 32-bit systems). This new release features a completely rebuilt port, addressing these long-standing issues.
