Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, offers a constant stream of mystical items and Pals to discover. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded this, introducing numerous crafting materials crucial for enhancing player characters and Pal bases. One such elusive resource is Dark Fragments. Unlike the more common Paldium, Dark Fragments are essential for crafting high-tier accessories, making their acquisition a priority for Feybreak explorers.

How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld

To acquire Dark Fragments, hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively found on Feybreak Island. This material is unique to Feybreak; Pals of the same elemental type in other regions won't yield Dark Fragments. Coastal areas of Feybreak primarily feature ground and water-type Pals; venture inland to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some, like Starryon, are nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.

Defeating or capturing these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields an average of 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. Drops aren't guaranteed, but diligent hunting should provide a sufficient supply.

The following Dark-elemental Pals drop Dark Fragments. Be aware of boss and predator variants in open areas and dungeons:

Pal Name Drop Rate Starryon1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct1-2 x Dark Fragments Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Starryon (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina (Crismon Butcher; Boss)2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct (Born of the Thunderclouds; Boss)1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct (Guardian of the Dark Flame; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Omascul (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Splatterina (Predator Pal)2-3 x Dark Fragments

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on the ground. Thorough exploration is encouraged, though remember that frequent combat will deplete ammo, potentially impacting other challenges like the Bjorn Tower Boss fight.

Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld

While Dark Fragments can be scarce, their uses are relatively specific. They are primarily used in crafting specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots for the player character.

The following items require Dark Fragments. Unlocking schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points (or Ancient Technology Points) is necessary, along with the appropriate crafting machines and additional materials.
