An Elden Ring player, chickensandwich420, has undertaken a unique challenge: conquering the notoriously difficult Messmer the Impaler boss daily until the release of the upcoming spin-off, Elden Ring: Nightreign. This ambitious feat involves using a different weapon each time, achieving a flawless victory (no hits taken), all while playing on NG+7.
The challenge, documented on his YouTube channel since December 16th, 2024, initially involved plans for diverse FromSoftware bosses. However, balancing university studies led to focusing solely on Messmer. The boss, from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, is known for its brutal difficulty, often requiring dozens, even hundreds, of attempts for even seasoned players.
Chickensandwich420 has set a self-imposed deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't launch by then, the challenge will expand to other games. This equates to over 160 Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, announced at The Game Awards 2024, is a standalone co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe. While a 2025 release is anticipated, FromSoftware's track record suggests potential delays. Whether chickensandwich420 completes his monumental task before Nightreign's arrival remains to be seen.
