Sony's Helldivers 2 is getting the big-screen treatment! At CES 2025, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures announced a film adaptation of the hit game.
Asad Qizilbash, head of PlayStation Productions, made the exciting announcement: "We're thrilled to confirm we've commenced development on a Helldivers 2 movie." While specifics remain under wraps, expect spectacular space combat to grace the silver screen.
Developed by Arrowhead Studios, Helldivers 2, a shooter reminiscent of Starship Troopers, became a PlayStation Studios phenomenon, selling an impressive 12 million copies in its initial 12 weeks. The recent Illuminate update, reintroducing enemies from the original Helldivers, further fueled its popularity.
Adding to the excitement, a Horizon Zero Dawn movie is also in the works, a collaboration between PlayStation Studios and Columbia Pictures (the studio behind the successful 2022 Uncharted adaptation).
Qizilbash offered an initial glimpse into the Horizon Zero Dawn project: "We're in the early stages of the Horizon Zero Dawn film, but we can promise a truly cinematic presentation of this world and its captivating characters for the very first time."
