Pokémon Scarlet and Violet's Snake-Themed Mass Outbreak Event
A special Mass Outbreak event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is underway, celebrating the Year of the Snake with boosted Shiny encounter rates! This limited-time event features increased appearances of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.
The event, running from January 9th to January 12th, offers players a heightened chance to catch Shiny versions of these serpentine Pokémon. This follows closely on the heels of the Shiny Rayquaza Tera Raid event which concluded 2024's Year of the Dragon. While Rayquaza is obtainable via the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC, the boosted Shiny rate in the Tera Raid made acquiring it significantly easier.
This Snakelike Mass Outbreak sees Silicobra appearing across Paldea, Ekans in Kitakami, and Seviper in the Terarium. Pokémon levels will range from 10 to 65, depending on player progression in the main storyline. To participate, players must connect to the internet, access the Poke Portal via the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News."
Event Details:
- Dates: January 9th - January 12th, 2025
- Pokémon: Silicobra, Ekans, Seviper (increased Shiny rates)
- Locations: Silicobra (Paldea), Ekans (Kitakami), Seviper (Terarium)
- Internet Connection Required: Yes
The Shiny rate for these Pokémon is increased by 0.5% before any additional multipliers are applied. Players can further enhance their chances by utilizing Shiny Sandwiches. For Ekans and Seviper, a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica combined with a Green Bell Pepper is recommended. For Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.
With the anticipated release of Pokémon Legends: Z-A in 2025, the future direction of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet remains uncertain. The Pokémon Company's plans for the Year of the Snake are yet to be fully revealed.
