Initially unveiled during the February 2024 Pokémon Day celebrations, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is anticipated as a sequel to the exploration-focused Pokémon Legends: Arceus (2022). Unlike previous entries, Arceus prioritized open-world exploration and Pokémon collection over traditional gym battles and the Pokémon League. Since its announcement, official information on Pokémon Legends: Z-A has been scarce.
The leaked August 15th release date, quickly removed from the Amazon UK page, has generated considerable buzz. This brief appearance, noted by content creator Light88, followed by a reversion to a December 31st placeholder, fuels speculation.
February 2025 Confirmation Possible
The authenticity of the leaked date remains unconfirmed. However, a formal announcement of the Pokémon Legends: Z-A release date is highly probable during the 2025 Pokémon Day Pokémon Presents broadcast, expected on February 27th. This date coincides with the original Japanese release of Pokémon Red and Green. Recent findings from a Pokémon GO data miner further support a February 27th Pokémon Day event.
Beyond a release date, fans eagerly anticipate a gameplay reveal, potentially also debuting during the February 2025 Pokémon Presents.
Initially slated as a Nintendo Switch exclusive, Pokémon Legends: Z-A will also be playable on the upcoming Switch 2, thanks to confirmed backward compatibility. While past mainline Pokémon games have featured paid DLC, Pokémon Legends: Arceus only received one free post-launch update, "Daybreak."
