The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Make Their Grand Entrance in Fortnite’s Upcoming Season
Fortnite is set to welcome the iconic Power Rangers into its universe this season, as a brand-new trailer featuring live-action nostalgia officially unveils the crossover.
Titled "Shock 'N Awesome," the next major update hits on August 7 and transforms the Fortnite Battle Royale island with an overwhelming insect infestation. (These menacing bugs emerged from a tentacle left behind by a colossal kraken-like beast that Superman defeated during last weekend’s live event, though you don’t need to remember those details.)
The latest trailer showcases various Fortnite heroes being dramatically overrun by the relentless pests until the Power Rangers arrive on the scene. Or, when an enormous bug appears, the legendary Dino Megazord steps in for a spectacular rescue.
A description accompanying the trailer confirms that the Red Ranger, Black Ranger, Pink Ranger, Yellow Ranger, and Blue Ranger will be available through Fortnite’s in-game shop starting mid-August. Meanwhile, the powerful Dino Megazord will unlock via the new battle pass system.
The battle pass also appears to include a brand-new Spartan skin from Microsoft’s Halo franchise, a female character equipped with gun-firing robotic arms, and an eye-patching humanoid panda—because it is Fortnite after all.
Earlier today, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney dismissed reports suggesting that the game's highly anticipated Disney content was delayed due to slow decision-making processes.
