The Pokémon Trading Card Game (TCG) achieved a remarkable feat, setting a new Guinness World Record by opening an astounding 20,000 cards in a 24-hour livestream marathon. This record-breaking event, featuring popular online personalities, celebrated the launch of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
A Marathon of Unboxing:
On November 26th, 2024, The Pokémon Company International shattered the existing Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream. The event, streamed live on Pokémon's Twitch channel, showcased prominent internet personalities like Serebii's Joe Merrick, PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. These influencers opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, culminating in a collection of over 20,000 cards.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in this achievement, highlighting the collaborative effort with content creators. While the livestream concluded, the Pokémon Company promises further giveaways on participating creators' channels within the following two weeks. The amassed cards will be donated to charities, including Barnardo's in the UK, before the holidays.
Celebrating Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks:
This record-breaking event coincided with the November 8th, 2024 release of the Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks expansion.
