A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's highly anticipated rerun in Genshin Impact Version 5.4, marking over a year since his initial appearance in the Fortress of Meropide. This highlights the ongoing challenge Genshin Impact faces in balancing its vast roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited rerun slots available on Event Banners. Even assuming a single 5-star release per patch, the demand for annual reruns far surpasses the supply.
While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, many players consider it a temporary solution. Shenhe's lengthy wait (over 600 days) before her rerun in Version 5.3 exemplifies this. Until the introduction of Triple Banners, extended wait times between character reruns seem inevitable.
Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst introduced in Version 4.1, exemplifies this problem. His absence from Event Banners since November 8, 2023, has left many players eager for a chance to obtain him. The leak, originating from Flying Flame, predicts his return in Version 5.4's Event Banners. This is particularly noteworthy given Wriothesley's effectiveness in Burnmelt teams, enhanced further by recent Spiral Abyss buffs.
Potential for Wriothesley Banner in Version 5.4: A Grain of Salt
It's crucial to approach this leak with caution. Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan-related leaks has been inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate.
However, the recent Spiral Abyss adjustments do bolster the plausibility of this rumor. Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If this is the case, and assuming Mizuki and Wriothesley share one Event Banner, the other banner might feature either Furina or Venti, the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. The expected launch date for Version 5.4 is February 12, 2025.
