- Sonic Rumble's release has been delayed for now
- Sega is bringing significant new features in version 1.2
- Join the upcoming Discord Q&A for developer insights
Despite partnering with beloved Sega franchises like Super Monkey Ball and Altered Beast in its pre-launch event, Sonic Rumble's global release won't happen immediately. The multiplayer battle royale had amassed an impressive 1.4 million pre-registrations ahead of its planned launch, but Sega has decided to postpone the release temporarily.
The delay coincides with development of update 1.2, which introduces transformative elements to Dr. Eggman's toybox world including Rumble Rankings, Crews, and character Skills. These features aim to enrich gameplay beyond simple chaotic victories.
Rumble Rankings will track seasonal progress with exclusive rewards, Crews enable cooperative score challenges with friends, while Skills introduce special character abilities for enhanced tactical play.

Rather than implementing these features post-launch, Sega chose to delay for proper refinement. Players can still engage with developers during the scheduled May 2nd Discord Q&A to learn about upcoming plans.

The postponement doesn't affect pre-launch incentives. All pre-registration rewards remain guaranteed, including 5,000 Rings, Crystal Chao Buddy, Happy Sticker, Garnet Knuckles skin, and the exclusive Movie Sonic skin unlocked at 1.4 million sign-ups.
With the extended pre-registration period, new players can still sign up through the official links below. The game will launch as free-to-play with optional in-app purchases. Visit Sega's official site for complete details.
