Skyblivion, the ambitious fan-made remake of *The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion* within the engine of *The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim*, is set to launch in 2025. In a recent developer update stream, the volunteer mod team showcased their progress, reaffirming their commitment to this target date. "We hope with your support to finish the final steps in completing our dream, maybe even beating our own estimation," they stated optimistically.

Describing Skyblivion as merely a one-to-one remake would be an understatement. The dedicated developers are enhancing various aspects of the original game, from making unique items truly stand out to revitalizing key bosses like Mannimarco to live up to their fearsome reputation. During the livestream, the team highlighted the revamped "A Brush with Death" quest, showcasing the stunning visual improvements in the painted world.
Adding an intriguing layer to this project is the long-rumored official remake of *Oblivion*. Earlier this year, alleged details about potential changes to combat and other elements surfaced, though Microsoft declined to comment when approached by IGN. Furthermore, in 2023, an *Oblivion* remaster was inadvertently mentioned in documents released during the Activision Blizzard/FTC trial. While some projects listed, like the Indiana Jones game, have been released, others such as the *Oblivion* and *Fallout 3* remasters remain unconfirmed.
The potential relaunch of *Oblivion* by Microsoft and Bethesda could pose a challenge to fan projects like Skyblivion. Bethesda's games have always thrived on a vibrant modding community, from classic titles to the latest releases like *Starfield*. It's hoped that Skyblivion won't encounter the same obstacles as *Fallout London* did before its launch.
