Following the handheld triumph of Nintendo’s Switch 2, Sony is enhancing its PlayStation Portal by enabling streaming from thousands of games without requiring a direct connection to a PS5 console.
Starting today, PlayStation Plus Premium members can stream an extensive library of titles they already own, featuring major releases like Grand Theft Auto V, Borderlands 4, and the recently launched Ghost of Yōtei.
Hundreds of additional games are now available via streaming from both the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog and Classics Catalog, including popular hits such as Hogwarts Legacy, Cyberpunk 2077, and God of War Ragnarök. Sony has published a comprehensive list supporting over 2,800 titles.
While not entirely new—cloud streaming on the Portal has been in beta for nearly a year—the feature officially launches today with Sony emphasizing its diverse gameplay possibilities.
Owning both a Portal and a PS5 allows you to stream games anywhere, even while using the restroom. You can also play co-op sessions with friends who are utilizing your main TV and console setup, or enjoy gaming while someone else watches KPop Demon Hunters on Netflix for the tenth time.
Cloud streaming debuts from beta alongside several new features: 3D Audio Support, a passcode lock, network status display, game invites, accessibility settings, and support for in-game purchases during cloud sessions.
Priced at $199 and available in white or black, the PlayStation Portal is described by IGN as “the best PlayStation 5 Remote Play solution currently on the market.”
