Sony to Remove 22 Games from PS Plus, Including Resistance Titles

By JulianDec 07,2025

Next month, 22 games, including Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the final playable versions of Sony’s first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, will be removed from the PlayStation Plus library.

PlayStation Plus is an online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering free monthly games, time-limited trials, online multiplayer, and exclusive discounts for members. Extra and Premium subscribers also gain access to a vast library of modern and classic games.

According to Push Square, the removal of 22 titles on May 20 includes two prominent first-party Sony PS3 games, both exiting the PS Plus Premium library.

Since Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 are no longer available for purchase on the PS Store, the PS Plus Premium streaming service was the last way to play them without owning the physical games and a functional PS3. Both titles, added to the library in late 2024, will be removed less than a year later.

The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac after their work on Ratchet and Clank, consists of alternate-history first-person shooters. Three titles were released for the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to projects like Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank games.

While it’s rare for Sony to pull first-party titles from PS Plus, it’s not unprecedented, as seen with the unexpected removal of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West in August 2024. However, those games remained available for purchase, unlike Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, which will no longer be accessible on modern consoles.

Notably, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will stay on the service. Additionally, the first-party PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also slated for removal.

The Resistance series, created by Insomniac, has been inactive for years. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price shared that efforts to develop Resistance 4 were unsuccessful, as the project was never approved. Like Guerrilla’s Killzone series, Resistance has faded from Sony’s focus.
