To enhance the gameplay experience and boost the popularity of characters such as Storm and Black Widow, who were previously underutilized, NetEase Games introduced significant balance adjustments to the heroes of Marvel Rivals as Season 1 commenced in January. These updates have particularly transformed Storm's role within the game.

Storm has benefited immensely from these changes, skyrocketing her popularity and effectiveness. According to Rivals Meta, she now boasts the highest win rate, marking a significant leap from her former standing on the hero selection list. In competitive mode, her win percentage now stands at an impressive 56%, with her pick rate soaring to 16%. This is a stark contrast to her earlier negligible pick rate of less than 1%. Storm is now outperforming established heroes like Adam Warlock, Jeff, Spider-Man, Hela, Hulk, Magic, and Iron Man, among others.

Despite Storm's rise, the most popular character duo of Season 1 continues to be Cloak and Dagger. However, their win percentage has dipped below 49%. On the other hand, Black Widow remains at the bottom of the popularity and success charts, showing that not all heroes have benefited equally from the updates.

Marvel Rivals is enjoying a surge in player engagement, with hundreds of thousands of players, including those in its competitive mode. Achieving the coveted Grandmaster title is an exclusive feat, attained by only 0.1% of players, despite the existence of the Celestial rank.

Reaching such elite levels is challenging, but one player has achieved an extraordinary milestone in Season 1. This player ascended to Grandmaster without sustaining any damage across 108 games, focusing exclusively on healing teammates while playing as Rocket Raccoon. They managed to restore over 2.9 million health points and recorded nearly 3,500 assists, all while avoiding knockouts.
