Ticket to Ride: Switzerland Expansion Brings New Routes and Challenges!

The popular digital strategy board game, Ticket to Ride, is expanding its railway empire with the new Switzerland expansion. This exciting addition opens up a route to Switzerland, introducing both country-to-country and city-to-country connections. Players can now strategically develop their railroads across Switzerland and its neighboring countries, adding a new layer of complexity to gameplay.

This timely holiday release also includes two new characters and four new train tokens. Developer Marmalade Games aimed to provide a festive gift to Ticket to Ride enthusiasts, delivering not only new locations but also fresh mechanics to challenge players. The new route types demand careful strategic planning and adaptation, making the expansion suitable for both seasoned players and newcomers alike.

Country-to-country tickets require connecting specific countries, offering multiple choices and varying point values. For example, a ticket might offer connections between France and Germany, Italy, or Austria, each yielding a different point reward upon completion. Similarly, city-to-country tickets connect a city to a country, adding another strategic dimension.

The scoring system rewards efficient route planning. Players earn points based on the highest-scoring connection completed for each ticket. Conversely, failing to connect any routes for a ticket results in a point penalty based on the lowest value on that ticket. This risk-reward system encourages thoughtful decision-making.

The Switzerland Expansion is currently available on Google Play, the App Store, and Steam, with PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox releases coming soon. Stay updated on Ticket to Ride news by following Marmalade Games on Facebook and Instagram.
