This app was developed as part of my initiative, "The Digital Revolution of Devarattam," honoring Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kumararaman, a retired teacher and Kalaimamani awardee; Kalaimamani Mr. M. Kannan Kumar; and Kalaimamani Mr. K. Nellai Manikandan from Zamin Kodangipatti, who have respectively been honored with the KALAIMAMANI, KALAIMANI, and Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar awards for their contributions to Devarattam.

I dedicate this app to these respected legends, my Guru Mr. E. Rajakamulu, and the beloved legends of Devarattam.

I created the Devarattam app primarily to promote Devarattam and its awardees.

The app details the art of Devarattam and profiles its honored artists.

Devarattam is a folk dance from Tamil Nadu. Historically and in the present day, it has been performed by the Rajakambalathu Nayakkar community.

Devarattam consists of 32 to 72 dance steps, with 32 being the foundational steps; the additional steps are variations of these basics.

Devarattam dancers hold a kerchief in each hand, wear Salangai (ankle bells) on each leg, and perform the dance while playing the traditional musical instrument known as the Deva Thunthumi.
