Battle of Sudoku: A Multiplayer Sudoku Showdown

Love Sudoku and want to challenge friends? Battle of Sudoku is a multiplayer version where you compete against other players or teams. The goal is classic Sudoku: fill a 9x9 grid with digits 1-9, ensuring each row, column, and 3x3 subgrid contains all digits.

Before starting, adjust the difficulty (1-6, 1 being easiest) in the game options. This sets the initial numbers on the grid, which all players must solve simultaneously. Everyone begins with the same puzzle.

Gameplay Modes:

The game offers two modes, selectable in the options:

• Show Opponent's Correct Numbers: Each correct number placed is visible to all players. Only the first player to correctly place a number earns points. Duplicate numbers are disallowed.
• Hide Opponent's Correct Numbers: Players cannot see each other's correct numbers, allowing for multiple players to earn points with the same number.

Time-Outs: Incorrect numbers result in a time-out (default 30 seconds, configurable in options), preventing the player from making further moves while others continue.

Scoring: Correct numbers earn points, varying based on puzzle difficulty (higher difficulty = more points per correct number). Incorrect numbers deduct half the points earned for a correct placement.

Winning: The game ends when the puzzle is solved. The player with the most points wins. If "Show Opponent's Correct Numbers" is disabled, the game ends when one player solves the puzzle, though this doesn't grant extra points; others can still win by making fewer mistakes.

Team Play: A team mode lets two teams compete. Join a team (1 or 2) upon entering a game; at least two players per team are required. Points are added to the team's total score, and notes/filled colors are shared within the team, enabling collaborative strategies.

Solving Tools:

A toolbar under the puzzle provides tools:

• Pen Tool: Add notes to empty squares using the pen icon. Clicking a square with a number already noted removes it.
• Fill Mode: Change the background color of squares (including solved ones) using the paint bucket icon.
