May 2025 PS Plus Game Linked to Hollywood Movie

By StellaMay 14,2025

It looks like one of the PlayStation Plus games for May 2025 has been leaked ahead of an official announcement from Sony. Rumors are swirling that the teen slasher horror game, Until Dawn, will be available as a free download for PlayStation players next month. Although the promotional art suggests it could be the Until Dawn Remastered version rather than the original 2014 release, we won't know for sure until Sony confirms it.

PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation users, offering a range of benefits including free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members have access to a vast catalog of current and classic games, while the monthly free games are accessible to all subscribers, regardless of their tier.

The speculation about Until Dawn's inclusion in the PlayStation Plus lineup was sparked by discussions within the PlayStation community on Reddit, with some suggesting it's a promotional move tied to the recent release of the Until Dawn movie. Unfortunately, the movie didn't live up to expectations, earning a 5/10 in IGN's review, which noted, "Until Dawn is more disappointing than deadly, leaving all the promise of the horror game behind for a jumble of horror-movie re-creations."

Similarly, the 2024 remaster of Until Dawn received a lukewarm response, also scoring a 5/10 from IGN. Our review described it as "an overpriced and under-featured remake that seems less like a must-have bit of moonlit murder and something closer to daylight robbery." In contrast, the original 2015 game was more favorably received, earning a 7.5/10.

In other PlayStation Plus news, a significant update is on the horizon as 22 games are scheduled to be removed from the service's library next month. Notable titles set to leave include Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2. This removal will mean that Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will no longer be available on modern consoles.
