With the release of Days Gone Remastered on the horizon, Sony's Bend Studio has shed light on the enhanced accessibility features that will be part of the game's update. One of the standout additions is the ability to adjust the Game Speed, allowing players to slow down the action when things heat up. This feature can reduce the game's speed from the normal 100% down to 75%, 50%, or even 25%, catering to those who find high-pressure scenarios challenging.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post, Kevin McAllister, the Creative & Product Lead at Bend Studio, detailed how the Game Speed feature is designed to assist players who might feel overwhelmed, especially during intense encounters with hordes of Freakers. "Game Speed is ideal for players who might feel overwhelmed in certain situations or have difficulty with various inputs in high-pressure moments, specifically fighting off hordes of Freakers," McAllister explained. He added that with the introduction of the new Horde Assault mode in the remaster, making this unique combat experience more accessible was a priority.
Beyond the Game Speed adjustment, Days Gone Remastered will boast a range of other accessibility options. These include customizable subtitle colors, a High Contrast Mode, UI Narration, and Collectible Audio Cues. Additionally, the auto-complete QTE feature, which was previously limited to the Easy difficulty setting, will now be available across all difficulty levels, from Easy to Survival II.
Bend Studio has also confirmed that most of these new accessibility features will make their way to the PC version of Days Gone. However, some features like feedback and control customization will require a compatible controller.
Days Gone Remastered was announced in February and comes packed with additional enhancements, including an improved photo mode, permadeath and speedrun options, and the aforementioned accessibility features. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where you ride as a biker fighting zombies, the remastered version of the 2019 game is eagerly awaited.
Mark your calendars for April 25, 2025, when Days Gone Remastered will be available. Owners of the PS4 version can upgrade to the PS5 remastered edition for just $10.
