South Korea's Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) has assigned Death Stranding 2: On the Beach a mature "19+" rating. The classification cites intense violence, pervasive strong language, and depictions of illegal drug use.

Director Hideo Kojima recently honored actress Shiori Kutsuna with flowers for completing her work on Death Stranding 2.

"Shiori Kutsuna has wrapped production. My deepest gratitude for her extraordinary dedication," Kojima wrote. Despite pandemic restrictions, Kutsuna traveled internationally for motion capture sessions, 3D scanning, and bilingual voice recording.

"Brilliant performance—thank you!" Kojima added. Reports indicate Kutsuna has been involved with Death Stranding 2 since autumn 2022.

At Tokyo Game Show 2024, Kojima revealed new Death Stranding 2: On the Beach footage. The presentation featured multiple two-minute cinematic sequences introducing the protagonist's key allies.

Notable characters include George Miller's Tarman, captain of the tar-traversing Magellan mobile base, and Fatih Akin's Dollman—a former medium transformed into a living doll. Léa Seydoux reprises her role as Fragile.

Elle Fanning portrays Tomorrow, a mysterious figure discovered in a supernatural realm resembling the afterlife. Notably, the original Death Stranding's tagline was "Tomorrow is in your hands."

One particularly memorable cutscene shows characters conversing with Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna), a pregnant woman, while performing Burt Bacharach and Hal David's classic "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head."
