The DOOM community never ceases to amaze with their innovative experiments. Recently, a tech enthusiast known as NyanSatan successfully ran the iconic shooter DOOM on Apple's Lightning/HDMI adapter. This adapter, equipped with its own iOS-based firmware and a processor running at up to 168 MHz, presented a unique challenge. NyanSatan accessed the firmware using a MacBook, as the adapter itself does not have sufficient memory to handle the transfer independently.
In other DOOM news, the upcoming title, DOOM: The Dark Ages, promises to be a groundbreaking addition to the series. One of its key features is the ability for players to adjust the aggression levels of demons through the game's settings. This customization aims to make the shooter more accessible to a broader audience. DOOM: The Dark Ages will offer extensive customization options, far exceeding those found in previous id Software projects.
Executive producer Marty Stratton emphasized the studio's focus on accessibility. Players can tweak various elements, including enemy damage, difficulty, projectile speed, the amount of damage they take, game tempo, aggression levels, and parry timing. This level of personalization ensures that players can tailor their experience to their preferred style of play.
Stratton also clarified that players do not need to have played DOOM: The Dark Ages to understand the narratives of both DOOM: The Dark Ages and DOOM: Eternal, making the game welcoming to newcomers and seasoned fans alike.
