GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

By AndrewFeb 26,2025

GOG resurrects the cult classic survival horror games, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, with DRM-free PC re-releases. Both PlayStation titles are now available on GOG's platform as part of its Preservation Program, retaining their original content.

Originally released in 1999 and 2000 respectively, these games represent a significant piece of gaming history. While Dino Crisis 3 arrived on the original Xbox in 2003, a new entry or HD remake has remained elusive despite fan demand. Capcom's 2022 release of Exoprimal, and comments from creator Shinji Mikami, seemingly solidified the franchise's dormancy.

PlayGOG's contribution is particularly valuable, given the challenges of running these older games on modern systems. The company highlights the improved compatibility and enhanced features:

Dino Crisis (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • All six original localizations (English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese).
  • Original, Arrange, and Operation Wipe Out modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Up to 4K (1920p) resolution and 32-bit color depth.
  • Improved geometry, transformation, and texturing.
  • Enhanced alpha transparency.
  • Improved game registry settings.
  • Bug fixes for animation, video, music, and save file corruption.
  • Broad modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, etc.) with optimized button mapping.

Dino Crisis 2 (GOG Version):

  • Full Windows 10 and 11 compatibility.
  • English and Japanese localizations.
  • Inclusion of Easy difficulty, Dino Colosseum, and Dino Duel modes.
  • Improved DirectX renderer.
  • Enhanced rendering options (Windowed Mode, VSync, Gamma Correction, Integer Scaling, Anti-Aliasing, etc.).
  • Improved music playback and volume scaling.
  • Improved item rendering and fog effects.
  • Corrected cartridge box alignment.
  • Bug fixes for video playback, task switching, and game exit.
  • Broad modern controller support (DualSense, DualShock 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Switch, Logitech F series, etc.) with optimized button mapping and wireless mode support.

Furthermore, GOG announced its Dreamlist initiative, a community voting system to influence future game additions to the platform. This allows players to directly impact which titles GOG pursues for revival and release.
