The Hoverboard serves as the primary sprint mechanic in Hyper Light Breaker, allowing you to cover large distances quickly while your Energy depletes at a slow rate. This guide will walk you through the process of summoning and riding your Hoverboard, as well as highlight some of its unique features that make it indispensable for more than just speedy traversal.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To summon and ride your Hoverboard, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your character will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you maintain the Dodge input.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward: tilt the left analog stick to lean and turn in the desired direction. The turning radius is influenced by your speed; at maximum velocity, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, you'll find the Hoverboard more responsive.
To dismount, release the Dodge input. Be mindful of your Energy levels, as the Hoverboard will automatically disappear if your Energy runs out. Your current Energy level is visible next to your Breaker's companion while using the Hoverboard or Glider. If your Energy gets low, take a moment to dismount and allow it to recharge to avoid an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While you can't perform tricks or attack while on the Hoverboard, it offers several unique features that enhance your gameplay. One standout feature is its ability to float on water, allowing you to traverse inlets and rivers that would otherwise be obstacles.
Remember, you can't summon the Hoverboard once you're already in the water; you must be riding it as you enter. No matter the height or speed of your entry, the Hoverboard will swiftly bring you back to the surface, ensuring a smooth ride.
Additionally, you can hold down the Jump input while on the Hoverboard to duck and prepare for a jump. Though you can't double-jump, the increased speed from the Hoverboard can help you cover greater distances and navigate long gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it helps with timing those challenging jumps accurately.
