Pokemon Company Addresses Prismatic Evolutions Shortage in TCG

The Pokemon Company has recently addressed the widespread shortages of their highly anticipated Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions expansion for the Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG). In an official statement, they expressed gratitude to fans for their patience and outlined their efforts to resolve the issue. This acknowledgment marks the first time the company has publicly addressed the shortages surrounding this particular set.

Announced in early November 2024 with pre-orders opening shortly after, Prismatic Evolutions is set to launch internationally on January 17, 2025. The expansion aims to kick off the new year with a splash for Pokemon TCG enthusiasts. However, like many new releases, it has faced significant supply challenges worldwide, including in the United States.

In response to weeks of fan complaints on social media, The Pokemon Company issued a statement to IGN, acknowledging the difficulties fans have faced in securing the new products. "We understand this inconvenience can be disappointing for fans, and we are actively working to print more of the impacted Pokemon TCG products as quickly as possible and at maximum capacity to address this," a spokesperson stated.

Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Reprints Are Coming Soon

The company is currently producing reprints of the Prismatic Evolutions set, which are expected to be distributed to licensed retailers soon. Although no specific timeline was provided, the focus remains on alleviating the current shortage. While some fans have pointed fingers at scalpers, The Pokemon Company attributes the issue to "high demand" without further elaboration.

More Pokemon TCG Prismatic Evolutions Products Are Also on the Horizon

In addition to the reprints, The Pokemon Company announced that new Prismatic Evolutions products will be available in the coming months. These include a Mini Tin and Surprise Box, set to debut on February 7, 2025. Following these, a Booster Bundle and an Accessory Pouch Special Collection are scheduled for March 7 and April 25, respectively. The Prismatic Evolutions Super-Premium Collection will launch on May 16, and a Premium Figure Collection will follow on September 26.

For those eager to try out the new cards, the Pokemon TCG Live mobile game will offer Prismatic Evolutions cards through its Battle Pass starting January 16, 2025, providing fans an early opportunity to engage with the new set.
