Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version
Available at Game Worlds in Australia
Hollow Knight: Silksong has been eagerly awaited by gamers worldwide, and the wait might finally be rewarded. The game will be showcased in a playable version at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This version promises to be more advanced than the initial demo seen at E3 in 2019, which was more of a "proof of concept."
From September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026, ACMI will host the Game Worlds exhibition, featuring a range of iconic titles including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the Australian-developed Hollow Knight: Silksong. Visitors will have the chance to explore exclusive custom builds, original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects from these games.
In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in the exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."
Since its announcement in 2019, information about Silksong has been scarce, leaving fans hungry for any updates. The Game Worlds exhibit at ACMI aims to satisfy this curiosity by providing detailed insights into the game.
The co-curators elaborated on what attendees can expect, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."
While the event at ACMI may hint at a possible release window for Silksong, no official release date has been confirmed. The game was briefly featured during the Switch 2 Direct last month, confirming a 2025 release window. With the exhibit running until 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong might launch as early as September 2025, within the exhibit's timeframe.
Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Keep up with the latest news and updates on the game by checking out our related articles below!
