Sony's India Hero Project Unveils Lokko for Mobile, PC, PS5

When it comes to development hubs, one of the less discussed areas of the world is India. However, we've often highlighted upcoming projects like Indus Battle Royale, pondering the future of Indian game development. That future seems to be unfolding with the upcoming 3D platformer, Lokko.

Lokko is a creation from the India-based developer Appy Monkeys, developed in partnership with Sony's India Hero Project. This incubator collaborates with Indian developers to nurture their next big hit. Lokko, as a result of this collaboration, is a 3D platformer that features level editors and a detailed avatar creator. The game's mission is to deliver pizzas on time while competing against the monopolistic Goobol food corporation.

The most compelling aspect of Lokko is its cross-platform and cross-play compatibility across mobile, PC, and PS5, enhanced by Dualshock features on all versions.

ytLokko-motionLokko incorporates many elements that have made modern games successful. It offers character customization, level creation, and a low-poly aesthetic reminiscent of Roblox. Yet, it stands out with the backing of PlayStation, positioning it as a strong contender in the gaming market.

In terms of gameplay, Lokko may not be revolutionary, but Appy Monkeys have crafted an engaging experience. I'm eager to see what other innovations will emerge from the India Hero Project.

While Lokko's exact release date remains unspecified beyond "sometime this year," fans of indie games can explore another cross-platform title, the eldritch fishing simulator Dredge from Black Salt Games.
