Spider-Man 4 Slightly Delayed to Avoid Clash with Nolan's The Odyssey

By CarterMay 02,2025

Sony has recently updated its release schedule, announcing a slight delay for the much-anticipated fourth Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland. Originally set to premiere on July 24, 2026, the film will now swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. This one-week shift is likely strategic, aiming to provide some breathing space between the Spider-Man film and Christopher Nolan's upcoming epic, The Odyssey.

With this adjustment, the Spider-Man sequel will now hit the screens two weeks after The Odyssey, rather than just one week apart. This buffer is crucial, especially considering both movies are expected to vie for Imax screenings, a format beloved by Nolan. Interestingly, Tom Holland will not only star in the Spider-Man film but also in The Odyssey, so he won't be complaining about the scheduling change.

Marvel has officially confirmed the development of the fourth Spider-Man movie, which will follow the release of Avengers: Doomsday on May 1, 2026. The Spider-Man film will be helmed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously directed Shang-Chi and was initially slated to direct the next Avengers film. However, due to changes in storylines, particularly around the Kang character, the Russo Brothers have returned to direct Avengers: Doomsday, with Robert Downey Jr. stepping into the role of Doctor Doom.

This exciting lineup promises a thrilling summer at the movies. For fans eager to stay updated on all the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe projects, be sure to check out our comprehensive list.
